Short Steps for Long Gains

Short steps for long gains consists of 26 short Bible studies (starting with A for Assurance and finishing with Z for zeal), each one based on a Bible verse, with half a dozen questions to stimulate encouraging conversation and prayer. It's the kind of thing you can do over lunch or breakfast once a week with a friend.

Each study is brief, and by no means covers everything you could say on the topic. But sometimes, short steps are the best way to make long gains.

Introduction

This small booklet has been written to provide a focus for Christians who meet together briefly and regularly to look at God’s word, pray and share something of their lives.

It is designed to be done quickly, with a focus on the practical application of biblical truth. Obviously, these verses and questions can’t provide all the biblical input that a growing Christian requires. However, they can keep you going, making short steps forward in Christian growth, for long-term gain. In this sense, it is an introductory A to Z of Christian living.

Each verse is chosen so as to focus on the topic for the reflection. However, if you have more time, it will be beneficial to read more than the single verse listed.

The studies work best if one or more of the people meeting has already thought about the answers to the questions, and considered the Bible verse in more detail.

There are 26 topics, so the booklet will provide weekly reflections for half a year, or a year’s fortnightly input.

The Bible verses are from the English Standard Version unless otherwise indicated.
