Christmas is still one of the few occasions that ‘not-yet Christians’ are happy to walk through our church doors and meet God at one of our services. Living in post-Christian nations (as most of us do), we Christians need to make the most of every opportunity that we can get to tell people about Jesus.
This little booklet, The Curious Sign, is a perfect handout to people that walk through our doors at our carols or Christmas services; it’s great to give to our children’s teachers, our playgroup mums, our neighbours, our work colleagues, or to use as stocking fillers with our family members, etc.
In short, the very talented and entertaining author Scott Blackwell asks the reader how to ‘read’ the sign of the birth of Jesus. What does it mean that “you will find a baby wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger”? What does it mean that the baby born in a stable is a saviour?
Quite simply, the curious sign of the manger means that God loves you so much that he will step away from majesty and choose humility for your sake. It means he has come to perform a rescue—to die in your place for the forgiveness of your sins—so that he might lift you up and show you how important you truly are in his eyes and within his heart.
Is there a person out there that doesn’t need to hear this wonderful truth this Christmas? For Christians this little book is a wonderful reminder of the amazing God that we know and love through our Lord and Saviour Jesus. For our not-yet Christian family and friends, this could be the best gift that you’ve ever given them—a chance to meet the true and living God.
Why not order a bundle? Why not order 400. We did!
The Curious Sign—well worth placing in the hands of both Christians and not-yet Christians. Happy Christmas—may it be one of great significance as you read God’s amazing ‘sign’ of love to us.
